Like most small businesses, Golden Triangle Bike is facing unprecedented challenges this year. Navigating a global pandemic, health and safety regulations, travel restrictions, and the economic turmoil brought on by COVID-19 have been stressful and concerning to all of us to say the least. So far we have been able to overcome some serious obstacles and hope to get back to helping you “Explore Pittsburgh and the Great Allegheny Passage by Bike” as we have for the past 14 years.
First and foremost, the health and safety of our employees and customers are the most important factors in moving forward into the new normal. We will follow the strictest guidelines of health, medical and scientific experts as we begin to develop our plans for reopening. We realize that we have technically been authorized to operate as an essential business throughout the last few months and that some return to retail operations are permitted in Allegheny County starting May 15. However, GTB will be a few weeks behind as it pertains to retail operations in order to implement procedures, protocols and modifications to keep ourselves and our guests safe. While we are getting ready, we are offering some services by appointment. Used bikes sales, tune ups, and service that is contact-free and in many cases includes free pickup and delivery.
Used Bike Sales:
Check out our used bike inventory here and follow the directions to have a new-to-you bike delivered to your home or picked up by appointment at our downtown location
Service:
Give us a call at 412-600-0675 and let us know what you need. We are offering free pick up and delivery, within a 20 mile radius, with our standard tune up and appointment based service on a case by case basis.
Local Rentals (hourly and daily in and around the city):
We hope to get back to in-person rentals within the next few weeks. When we do, we will require all customers to wear a face-mask while interacting with our staff, practice social distancing and most likely make advanced reservations . We have an New self-guided tour map and Ride with GPS routes that we are so excited to share with you! For updates on when in-person rentals will happen, watch our website and social media pages.
Local Group Bike Tours
For now, we are suspending all local bike tours. We hope to get back soon!
Group Rides
Last season we began a bi-weekly mountain bike ride in Frick Park. These rides were a partnership with our friends at Three Rivers Outdoors Company in Regent Square and started at their location The rides were awesome and fun! We also did a bi-weekly Mixed Surface Ride starting at our shop….equally as awesome. We hope to get back to these rides soon. But for now, we will lay low and hope for the best.
Multi-Day Bike Trips on the Great Allegheny Passage:
This part of our business is our bread and butter, and it presents the most challenges. We expected to send 1000+ riders on self-guided bike trips this season. We currently have hundreds of people who have booked and allowed us to plan their once in a lifetime trip on the Great Allegheny Passage. While we sit in limbo and hope for the best, we face a lot of uncertainty. If you chose to go on a multi-day bike trip, that’s great! As we stand, most of our lodging and logistic partners are operating on some modified level. We will schedule an appointment to hand off your bike and equipment while practicing safety measures to keep you and our employees safe. If you chose not to travel during this time, we have modified our cancellation policies to be as lenient as possible while trying to protect our small business as well as our trail partners. We are offering credit-in-full for any postponed or rescheduled trips! This means No penalties or fees for anyone who agrees to come back and take their trip should they have to delay due to COVID-19.
Team GTB:
The members of our cycling team and their fearless leader are as awesome as they can be. They are positive and hoping for the best like the rest even as racing season surely will face some serious challenges. We want nothing more than to see them all on the podium sooner than later. Nothing but love for them all.
